Justin woke up on Saturday to an empty bed. It was almost noon, and he couldn’t believe that he had slept so late. He showered and was just finishing a sandwich when the door opened.
“Hey,” he said, crumpling his napkin and throwing it in the trash.
“Hey,” Brian replied as he pulled off his jacket and dropped his gym bag on the floor.
“Did you have a good workout?
“It wasn’t so much a workout as it was listening to Michael go on and on about his date with the doctor,” Brian said as he toed off his shoes and made his way to the bedroom.
“Sounds fascinating,” Justin said as he walked up the steps and leaned against the wall. “So, Michael really likes this guy?”
“I think he wants to like him,” Brian answered as he continued to undress. “He’s bringing him to Woody’s tonight.”
“That’s good,” Justin said. “Michael needs someone.”
“That he does,” Brian said, pausing in the doorway to the bathroom. “Let me take a quick shower, and then we can get started on your project.”
“Okay.” Justin nodded and went to retrieve his sketchpad and drawing pencils.
Brian came out of the bedroom with only a towel wrapped around his waist. “Where do you want me?”
“The sofa is fine,” Justin answered, digging through his messenger bag for an eraser.
Brian dropped the towel and sprawled out on the sofa. “I would have thought that by now, you would’ve been able to do this from memory,” he teased.
“Yeah, well, I like the real thing a lot better.”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Ted and Emmett were already at Woody’s when Brian and Justin arrived. They were at a table in the back, guessing who was a top and who was a bottom as guys walked by.
“I’d say top,” Emmett said as a muscular man with black hair walked by. “Definitely.”
“He’s a bottom,” Brian said, taking a swig from his beer. “And his dick is the size of a Ticonderoga number 3, hard.”
“Good to know,” Emmett said as he filed away the information.
“Mikey not here yet?” Brian asked as he looked around the bar.
“He’s running late,” Ted answered. “But he should be here pretty soon.”
“There he is now,” Emmett said, pointing towards the door.
Justin turned to get a look at Michael’s doctor, and he couldn’t help but stare.
“Close your mouth, Sunshine,” Brian said. “Don’t want to attract flies.”
“Justin,” David said.
“Dr. Cameron,” Justin replied politely. “It’s nice to see you again.”
“Same here. How have you been?”
“Oh, you know...” Justin trailed off. “How’s Hank doing? Did he hate Portland as much as he thought he would?”
“For a while all I heard was how much he wanted to come back. Now I can barely get him to leave,” David laughed.
Emmett, Ted, Brian, and Michael watched the exchange between the two men with confusion written all over their face.
“Do you two fucking know each other?” Michael asked.
“I’ve known Dr. Cameron ever since I was a kid,” Justin answered. “He used to play golf with my father at the club.”
“What are the chances,” Emmett said as he sipped his Cosmo and shook his head.
“I stopped immediately when Craig told me about Justin,” David added in.
“What happened?” Michael crossed his arms, and sat down on the barstool.
“My father disowned me when he found out I was gay. He kicked me out of the house, and told me I could only return when I ‘straightened’ myself out. I ended up staying at my friend, Daphne’s house until my mother finally divorced him.”
“Wow. What an asshole,” Ted commented.
“So who are you here with?” David asked Justin.
“He’s with me,” Brian said as he draped his arm around Justin’s shoulders.
“And you are?”
“This is Brian,” Michael interjected. “And this is Emmett and Ted.”
“It’s nice to meet all of you,” David said. “I’ve heard so much about you guys.”
“Who’s up for a game of pool?” Ted asked.
Michael, David and Emmett teamed up against Brian, Justin, and Ted. They played three games, Brian’s team winning all of them. Michael got tired of losing, so he suggested that they all head over to Babylon.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“So, if he’s with you, then why does he still fuck other guys?” David asked Justin after he saw Brian dragging a trick into the backroom.
“We have a non-defined, non-conventional kind of relationship,” Justin answered. “And it works for us.”
“And you’re happy with it?”
“Sure.” Justin nodded.
David gave the blond a sideways glance, not really believing what he was saying.
“David, come on,” Michael said, pulling him down the steps from the catwalk.
“So, how are you doing, sweetie?” Emmett asked Justin, bumping their hips together.
“Really good actually.” Justin smiled. “I haven’t seen Ethan lurking around since earlier this week, so hopefully he finally got the message.”
“That’s a relief,” Emmett breathed.
“I just hope he isn’t trying to throw me off,” Justin added.
“Is he smart enough to think like that?”
“I don’t know. “Justin shrugged his shoulders. “He only seems to listen to what he wants to, and his logic is totally screwed up.”
“Whose logic is screwed up?” Brian asked as he wrapped his arms around Justin, and pressed his crotch to the blond’s ass.
“No one’s, “Justin answered as he turned and smiled at Brian.
“Let’s dance,” Brian said, continuing to rub up against Justin.
“You’re high,” Justin observed.
“I am,” Brian agreed. He slipped his hand in the front of Justin’s jeans, and massaged the already hardening cock. His thumb played with the slit, and he could feel the pre-cum.
“Is it hot in here, Teddy?” Emmett asked when he heard the sounds coming from Justin. “I could definitely use a drink.”
“Me, too,” Ted agreed as he followed Emmet down to the bar. “You think he would’ve already had enough tonight.”
“Well, you know Brian’s motto,” Emmett said as he leaned back against the bar. “There’s no such thing as enough.”
“Apparently not.”
“Where’s Brian?” Michael asked, appearing alone at Ted’s side. “Is he still in the backroom?”
“He’s with Justin,” Emmett answered. “Where’s David?”
“Oh, he had to go home. One of the Ironmen is coming in tomorrow for an emergency appointment, so he has to get up early.”
“So when are you two seeing each other again?” Ted asked.
“I don’t know.” Michael sighed a slumped his shoulders. “We didn’t make any definitive plans.”
“He seems really nice, “Emmett commented.
“I guess,” Michael answered distractedly as he saw Brian pull Justin towards the backroom.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“I don’t think I’m going to see David anymore,” Michael announced once all the food was served.
“Who’s David?”Melanie asked as she sat down and unfolded a napkin in her lap.
“This guy I was seeing,” Michael answered. “But I don’t think it’s gonna work out.”
“Why not?” Lindsay asked as she prepared a small plate of food for Gus. She passed the scrambled eggs to Ted after getting some out for herself.
“We don’t have anything in common. He collects wine and I collect comic books,” Michael answered. “He’s never even heard of Captain Astro!”
“Shocking!” Emmett gasped. “It’s alright to have different interests, Michael. If you two had everything in common, it’d make for a boring relationship.”
“This wouldn’t happen to have anything to do with the fact that he knows Justin, would it?” Ted asked.
“No, of course not.” Michael shook his head.
“The guy you were seeing knows Justin?” Melanie asked. “Doesn’t surprise me,” she scoffed. “With Brian’s influence, he’s bound to get around.”
“It’s nothing like that,” Emmett defended Justin. “He knows him through his father. That’s all.”
“Where is Brian?” Lindsay asked. “I tried him on his cell, but it keeps going to voice mail.”
“He’s probably too hung over to make it out of bed,” Melanie commented. “Asshole can’t even make it over to see his own son.”
“Melanie,” Lindsay scolded. “Not in front of Gus.”
“Whatever,” Melanie mumbled.
“What does David do?” Lindsay asked, hoping to change the subject.
“He’s a chiropractor. He owns his own practice.
“That’s nice.” Melanie perked up. “You’ll never have back pains again.”
“Daddy!” Gus squealed and climbed out of his seat. He ran to his father and held his hands up in the air.
“Hey, Sonny Boy.” Brian picked his son up and carried him back to the table.
Justin sat down at the end, next to Emmett, and Brian ended up by Lindsay.
“Justin, how’s school going?” Lindsay asked. “Weren’t you about to start a project last time we talked?”
“Yeah, my life study portrait,” Justin answered, covering his mouth with his napkin while he swallowed. “I’m actually going in to finish it up today. I have it all drawn out; I just need to get it on canvas.”
“The concert was wonderful, yesterday. Simply amazing how talented that young man is,” Lindsay gushed. “I even splurged and bought one of his CD’s.”
“He’s so accomplished for someone so young,” Melanie added. “What?” She asked when the table grew silent.
“You guys haven’t told them?” Emmett asked.
“It hasn’t come up.” Brian shrugged.
“What are you talking about?” Lindsay asked. She hated it when Brian kept things from her.
“Ethan has been harassing me for a while,” Justin told the two women. “So much its gotten to the point where I had to change my phone number.”
“Oh, my God,” Lindsay gasped. “Honey, you should have said something. We never would have gone if we had known this.”
“It’s fine, Lindsay,” Justin assured her.
Michael sat back in his chair with a scowl on his face. He pushed his food around the plate with his fork, his appetite lost. It seemed lately that no matter the situation, or conversation, it always came back to Justin.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“I got it!” Michael shrieked as he ran into the diner, a box clutched to his chest. “I got it! I can’t believe I got it!”
“What’d you get, Michael?” Emmett asked as he wiped imaginary crumbs from his mouth.
Michael slid in the booth next to Brian, grinning from ear to ear.
“You’re certainly in a better mood,” Brian said as he made room for his friend.
“I never thought in a million years that I would get it but I did!” Michael babbled.
“What? Tell us,” Emmett exclaimed. “You know I don’t handle suspense well.”
“No, just being suspended,” Brian joked.
“Well, yeah.”
“I got the very first issue of Captain Astro,” Michael said as he opened the lid and held up the box. “And it is in perfect condition.”
“That’s great, Michael.”
“It is! It cost me a fucking mint but it was worth it,” Michael said. He couldn’t keep his eyes off the comic.
“Where’d you find it?” Brian asked.
“On E-bay,” Michael answered. “I was saving up to fix up the store, but once I saw this last week, I knew I had to have it. I didn’t care how much it was gonna cost me.”
